The article studies the problem of psychological characteristics of the influence of emotional intelligence on the conflict of personality in early adolescence. Based on the theoretical analysis of different approaches of scientists, it is determined that the concept of emotional intelligence has different interpretations. In general, emotional intelligence is understood as the ability of a person to recognize, understand their own and other people’s emotions, and manage them. Having considered the main scientific provisions, we found that emotional intelligence can influence the level of conflict in the personality. Individuals with a high level of emotional intelligence effectively manage their emotional sphere, as they understand their emotions and the feelings of other people well. As a result, this helps them make constructive decisions in conflict situations. It was found that people with low conflict are characterized by good emotional self-control. An empirical study of the influence of emotional intelligence on personality conflict in early adolescence was conducted. The following methods were chosen for the diagnosis of emotional intelligence and the specifics of conflict manifestations: the emotional intelligence research method “Emotional Intelligence Scale” by N. Schutte; the method of diagnosing ways of reacting in conflicts by K. Thomas; the method of assessing personality conflict by G.V. Lozhkin. Using the above-mentioned methods, it was found that in this sample, the average level of emotional intelligence development is expressed in the largest number of students. The low level of emotional intelligence development is expressed in the smallest number of students. In conflict situations, most students choose a strategy of cooperation and compromise. They are least inclined to show rivalry in conflicts. In general, the level of conflict of the majority of the studied individuals is within the social norm, and behavior in conflicts is constructive. Using statistical data processing (Pearson’s correlation coefficient), the relationship between the level of emotional intelligence and the characteristics of conflict in high school students was determined. Subjects with a high level of emotional intelligence more often use cooperation and compromise in conflict situations. Also, individuals with a high level of emotional intelligence show a low level of conflict and less often choose strategies such as avoidance, accommodation, rivalry, and opposition in conflict situations.
