THE EXPERIENCE OF LONELINESS AMONG YOUTH WITH TRAUMA EXPERIENCE

Abstract

Objective. The aim of the study is to review existing psychological theories regarding the significance of loneliness experiences among youth with trauma experience. Methods. The theoretical part of the study was based on a comparative analysis of Ukrainian scholarly and theoretical research on the problem of traumatic experience and its impact on the quality of mental health in student age. Based on the conducted theoretical exploration and generalizations, a program for empirical verification of the identified provisions was developed. The validity and reliability of the results were ensured by the scientific and methodological soundness of the study, the use of methods appropriate to the research objectives, and the representativeness of the sample. Results. The article attempts to integrate scientific approaches to understanding traumatic experience, its characteristics, and causes in student age. The object of the study is traumatic experience, while the subject is the особеності переживання самотності у студентів. The main focus is placed on the consequences of trauma for the emotional state and the experience of loneliness in youth. The obtained results indicate that the majority of young people (65.4%) demonstrate a low level of loneliness, suggesting the preservation of social connections even in the presence of traumatic experience. At the same time, 34.6% of respondents show a moderate level of loneliness, which may reflect periodic difficulties in emotional closeness and a sense of isolation. According to the Aaron Beck scale, minimal (42.3%) and mild (38.5%) levels of depression prevail, generally characterizing the sample as relatively emotionally stable. However, the presence of moderate (15.4%) and severe (3.8%) levels of depression indicates a subgroup of youth requiring psychological support. At the same time, for 76.9% of respondents, traumatic experience (moderate and high levels of impact) continues to affect their emotional state, highlighting its significant role in the experience of loneliness.
