Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of victim behavior in late adolescence. The definition of victimhood and the factors that determine it are given. These are personal factors, psycho-emotional state and situational factors. Personality factors include individual psychological (character, temperament) and socio-psychological (motives, values, attitudes) personality features. The psycho-emotional state is considered as a trigger in the implementation of victim behavior. Situational factors are similarly analyzed. The age factor has a special influence on victim behavior. Students are mostly young people, which is considered a transition between childhood and adulthood and therefore has several features that result in the victim vulnerability of young people increasing significantly. This is primarily a lack of life experience and instability of existing traits and qualities, their susceptibility to certain influences. The article also contains an analysis of the results of the authors' empirical research. Based on it, conclusions are drawn about the gender characteristics of the tendency to victim behavior in late adolescence. The concepts of gender and gender features in the article are considered through the category of sex. According to the results of the study, the tendency to victim behavior in students is moderate, but most of them have experience in victimized situations. There are no gender differences in the propensity for victim behavior, but young men and women differ in the types of such propensity: young men, unlike young women, are more prone to such forms of victim behavior as aggressive and self-destructive victimhood, and young women are addicted and helpless victimhood. In addition, it was found that male students are more prone to active forms of victim behavior, and female students - to passive. Moreover, the basis of the latter are quite positive, prosocial personality traits and qualities (eg, integrity, responsibility, mercy, etc.). Among the prospects for further research, we highlight the study of the impact of psycho-emotional state and features of victimogenic situations on the predisposition to victim behavior of students.
